The Cardano ecosystem is a fascinating place in that it gives each of us the opportunity for self assessment and definition. It is sort of a blank canvas that allows new members the opportunity to assess their talents and decide how best to contribute.
Jamie, the proprietor of BOLD pool, has twenty years of experience in designing, running and operating data centers and networks which made him a natural fit to run a stakepool. After he fell in love with Cardano in early 2021, he was so impressed with Cardano’s mission that he wanted to do more than just hold currency. He created a stake pool to become a part of the Cardano community and decentralize the network. His IT experience also allowed him to build the BOLD stake pool on enterprise class equipment in the Azure cloud, as opposed to the more common AWS cloud. This is an important aspect of decentralization and network security. A broad base of SPOs, web service providers, bare metal servers and geographical locations creates a stable Cardano foundation that will remain secure no matter what world events occur. BOLD Pool nodes are built with redundancy and availability to ensure the Cardano network is decentralized and available 24x7x365.
Jamie lives in the great white north of Minneapolis Minnesota. If you are familiar with Minneapolis, you know that people who live there generally enjoy winter. Cold and snow go with Minneapolis just like Sun and Palm trees in Florida. Jamie is an avid skier, which is reflected on Bold’s webpage.
Bold is a very active pool. They are members of the xSPO Alliance. The xSPO Alliance is a group of small Cardano stake pools that are growing and learning together. While all of the SPOs are independently operated, membership offers a great opportunity to amplify each pool’s message and be on the forefront of new ideas. xSPO Alliance is also testing a rotating delegation to help small pools mint blocks and, in turn, attract new delegators.
Because of his long term IT experience, Jamie is aware of the shortage of knowledgeable coders and developers. He also has a heart for disadvantaged youth. The logical conclusion was to choose a charity that marries the two concerns: CreateMPLS
This organization prepares students in underserved communities for rewarding careers, by removing barriers and providing accessible STEM learning programs at no cost to students or families in the Minneapolis, MN area. Basically CreateMPLS offers learning labs to students. Those who enjoy the activities are invited to join the CreateMPLS competitive teams which utilize STEM skills and give opportunities for practical application in a fun, competitive environment. This is the only organization offering free technology learning classes in Minneapolis. Jamie is a long term supporter of this organization. He has had the opportunity to meet some of the young students and was deeply impressed with their excitement and interest in coding and development.
