The interesting thing about talking to people in Cardano is that everyone's journey is different. Ernie, the operator of Lonestar stake pool, was building computer hardware

for family and friends, he couldn't find any video cards and was informed that all of the video cards were being bought up to mine crypto. This intrigued him so he experimented with mining but quickly was unimpressed due to the energy required. He still liked the cryptocurrency concept and started looking into alternatives, where he found Cardano. From there, he began watching YouTube videos and exploring the Cardano ecosystem. He built a relay and block producer in December and has been expanding his knowledge ever since. To that end, Ernie has already joined the xSPO and Freeloaderz crew.

Ernie lives in the Dallas Ft. Worth area and is the manager of a large group of airline mechanics. His daughter, who is studying marketing at Indiana University, will be helping with promotion and his son is learning some of the technical aspects of running a stake pool. He really enjoys spending his evenings learning about the Cardano community and running a stake pool as a family project. Ernie is also a veteran of the US Navy. As such he supports veterans' causes, and he will donate to the Wounded Warrior Project once the pool starts minting blocks.
