Grams Number Plus One Pool (GNP1)

Russell and Sue are world travelers. Their adventure started in Australia and, after years of contracting all over the globe as a consultant for cyber forensics and compliance, has deposited them in Great Britain. Russell's degree in psychology and pure mathematics led him to a career as an Australian police officer, which in turn transitioned into the field of cyber forensics and to Qatar, Hong Kong, and other disparate locations. His consulting ended with the onset of the covid lockdowns. As a result he needed a new focus and decided to spin up a Cardano stakepool and become more involved in the ecosystem.

Russell understands the need for a strong marketing approach for small stake pools in Cardano. He has a number of ongoing marketing initiatives. He created Numpugz NFTs as a marketing tool and a charity donation funnel. Each Numpug wears the green ribbon for mental health awareness. Russell's daughter drew the little creatures while he and his wife Sue literally minted them manually using Excel spreadsheets and the command line from his own node. While this was a bit laborious, it kept costs down and allowed him to truly learn how the often hidden side of the NFT minting process works. It has also allowed him to offer some of the Numpugz free and others in return for charitable donations. Russell is also offering a rewards program that provides new delegators up front rewards- potentially equivalent to a months worth of staking rewards. Details are available via his twitter account and the GNP1 website.

Both his degree in psychology and his world travels contributed to Russell's desire to use his pool to support mental health charities. Like many of us, he feels as though mental health care is desperately needed and underfunded. Rather than picking a specific mental health charity, Russell supports a wide variety of charities from around the globe including Strong Minds, which supports women in Africa and Wavelength which supports charities in Great Britain.

Like many small stake pools, Russell’s primary focus is on growing his pool. He would like to see broader, more equally distributed support for the small pools as this would help secure the network and also make rewards more consistent and easier for delegators to understand. He feels that the small SPOs are the flagship of the Cardano operation. Every day these SPOS are reaching out and educating new people about the security and potential inherent in Cardano. Currently Russell is funneling all of his earnings back into the pool as promotional items and / or delegator rewards. It is a testament to his desire to participate and contribute to Cardano on the long term.
